The Top 3 Tech Salary Tools
Know what your position’s worth, then insist on it

Tech salaries are a hot topic. As an advocate of diversity, equity, and inclusion, I believe that getting paid fairly is the first step. My goal with sharing these tools is to make tech salary information accessible so you can get paid fairly.
Note: These are tools that I have personally used. I am not sponsored by any organization to share my views.
1. Levels.fyi
Levels.fyi is an online tool that collects verified compensation information from tech employees at various big tech companies. This tool is hands down one of the top secrets that many techies use for career decisions, benchmarking, and salary negotiations.
The good
- Covers most of the big tech companies in the U.S.
- Breaks down total compensation by job level and years of experience.
- Breaks down total compensation with base salary, stocks, and bonus. This is one of its best features — and pretty accurate, in my opinion.
- The data can be exported for further analysis. I would recommend removing outliers and then looking at the average for the role, level, experience, and company.
