True story: Bon Appetit is the only magazine I still have a subscription to.

Web design in 2019 feels like a constant game of catch up. Blink and you’ll miss a new JavaScript library, a new way to approach APIs, a conference that changes everything (or so they tell you). But then there’s the flip side — if you spend all your time catching up on the latest news and blogs, well, then you have no time left to code.

When your desk looks like this, you need more than 1 cup of coffee.

So how do you decide which to spend the most time on? For me, I try to spend my time 70% — 30% on creating and learning. Recently, I’ve gotten into daily challenge websites like JavaScript30 where I can spend 20 minutes tackling a problem and come out of it having learned something. Otherwise, if I’m reading articles or going through documentation, it’s sometimes difficult to feel like I’m getting something tangible out of it.
