Steve AI and ChatGPT

I’m looking for different use cases to work with ChatGPT and see how it can make my life more productive, help me to be more efficient or maybe just to have some fun and get some inspiration.

Some of the most interesting things happen when AI meets AI, so together with ChatGPT, I created an explainer video that was generated by artificial intelligence.

Explainer videos are short, animated videos that explain a concept, process or idea. They are often used to promote products, teach skills, or explain complex topics. AI-driven Explainer creator tools use an input text from the user, mainly called script, and use that text to generate a first version of a video.

So without further ado, let’s dive into how you can quickly achieve amazing results with text-generating AI and video-creation AI.

Introduction to Chat GPT

ChatGPT is a natural language processing (NLP) tool developed by OpenAI. It is a variant of the popular GPT-3 language model, which is a machine-learning model trained to generate human-like text.

ChatGPT offers a variety of use cases, as long as they have anything to do with text. You can let it answer questions, generate code from text, brainstorm ideas together, create marketing texts, business ideas — you name it.

Introduction to Steve AI

Steve AI is an artificial intelligence web platform that enables users to quickly and easily create videos, animations, and other visuals and offers a huge variety of different content design styles.

Steve AI takes your text as input, tries to understand it, and generates video scenes based on the context of your input. You then adjust the content of those scenes to your needs and let Steve AI render the final video.

You can easily customize the look and feel of your content to suit your needs, allowing for a variety of options for creating engaging visuals.

Write a Video-Script with ChatGPT

For my trial, I wanted to create a video that explains what I do in my day-to-day business life as an Azure Cloud Solution Architect. And I asked ChatGPT for help. I gave ChatGPT enough context to write a video script that explains my job as specifically as possible.

I want to create a video with an AI-driven explainer video creator. Please write a video-script that describes non-developers what I’m doing as an Azure Cloud Solution Architect. Explain exciting and easy to understand that I plan, architect and develop integration platforms using Microsoft Azure. These platforms use other development teams to conveniently develop integration projects so applications and services can communicate with each other, in Hybrid-Cloud and on-prem scenarios. Also explain that I’m responsible to improve security, costs and performance of mentioned platforms. I also take care to enforce policies and comply governance.

From this prompt, ChatGPT responded with a text that already had great content, which was especially useful to not start on a greenfield. But it was too long and also a little too technical. And that’s where ChatGPT starts to shine, because from there on I worked with it like with a brainstorming buddy. Together we tweaked the text while I continued to ask prompts like “please explain long paragraphs shorter or “explain easier to understand for non-developers”.

So in the end I was able to get the following script:

Have you ever thought about how different applications and services communicate with each other? That’s where I come in!

Hi there, I’m an Azure cloud solution architect. I make it easy for different applications and services to work together and share information. I build integration platforms using Microsoft Azure.

Imagine these platforms as a bridge that connects different applications and services, allowing them to communicate and work together seamlessly. [..]

With that script in place, I could already start working with Steve AI.

Steve AI comes into play

For my trial, I only used the free subscription of Steve AI, which in my case already had enough content to play around with. In the end, you’ll have a watermark on your video, so when the use-case gets more professional you sure will want to get a paid subscription, starting at 15$/month.

From the dashboard I started with an “auto generate script” project and was already presented with a bunch of options from which I chose the ones I guessed worked best for my case.

Next, I copied the whole content from the last ChatGPT response (without the first and last paragraphs) and pasted it all at once into the editor. Great enough, Steve AI was able to separate my text into different scenes already. Additionally, I selected “Auto Highlights” and “Add Voice Over”.

Script after ChatGPT text has been pasted

I could choose from different design styles that were presented using an example video for each style. I chose the “Hard work” style.

Selection of available design styles

After I’d selected my favored design style it was Steve’s turn. The AI started to generate all scenes, providing written text with a speaker, animated characters, scene transitions, and icons — all of which the AI thinks fit best to my provided script.

And after a few seconds, I was presented with the editor and the generated scenes, ready to mess around with.

The character the AI had selected was a woman, so I needed to change that to a male character that hopefully looks at least slightly like myself.

Auto-generated scene with female character

So I went to every scene with a character and could easily change it by selecting from a variety of characters. All of which worked smoothly with the existing animations. Maybe there was a convenient way to change all characters at once, but I wanted to check all scenes anyways.

Sample of available characters

So finally, “I” was presenting the video:

Same scene after character change

Even so, most of the images already worked quite well for my script, I wanted to change one or the other, which was conveniently easy and gave me the feeling that I’m at least somewhat creative in that process…

Changing images and icons is easy

Changing the provided character animation is easy as well and Steve AI offers many different animations, all of which work for every character.

Changing animations is easy as well

Finally, I wanted to change the background music, which took up most of the time. Not because it was difficult — far from that — but because I was very picky. The search experience is okay and you can already pre-listen to every song.

Sample of available background music

Of course, several images, characters, animations, speakers and music titles are only available for paid subscriptions. But already the free content is very comprehensive and it’s fun playing around with it.

Finally, there’s the Video

I didn’t change too much on purpose, so I was able to see what ChatGPT and Steve AI could already create on their own. I just changed the character, two icons, and one animation — and the background music.

So here we go, that’s the video that Steve AI created after a few minutes:

I don’t say that this is the most impressive explainer video I’ve ever seen, but for under an hour of work with ChatGPT and Steve AI, the result is pretty impressive in my opinion!

Steve AI really got a ton of content to mess around with and the editor works very well and supports you in getting creative! In addition, ChatGPT did a great job to brainstorm and prepare a script that I could use to get started with Steve AI.

You surely will want to tweak the results of both AI tools and won’t just use the first outcome they’ll generate, but in the end, you’ll get some pretty amazing results in a fraction of the time that you’d have needed without those tools.

Explainer video editors are not cheap but in the end, are still very worth the price. I can only imagine how much work they needed to put in to get their service where it is now.

Give it a try, you can start without dropping a dime.
