3 Things To Know Before Sitting for Software Developer Job Interviews

When I was approaching graduation from a software bootcamp in 2018, people always told me, “Your first job will be the hardest to find!”

For me personally, that turned out to be anything but true. I secured a job two days after graduation, and found the interview process extremely easy at that point. When employers are hiring a recent grad, they’re not hiring for skill — they’re hiring for adaptability.

They’re checking to make sure you can be custom-built into the engineer that they need, and for the most part, that’s great!

However, getting your second job in the industry proves to be more difficult than before. Instead of hiring a bright-eyed, green developer, they’re now looking to see how far your chops reach. These are the things I wish I knew before I started my journey into all that is the software engineer job interview.
